We have used many, many Linksys firewall/routers with pretty good success. However, lately, the newest WRT54G is a loser! Several we installed worked the same way- well for a day, then needed to be rebooted. Every day they need to be rebooted to re-establish connectivity! This is unacceptable. There was no other firmware update. Attempting to "upgrade" the new version 5 firmware to an earlier version, we found that the newest model hardware has only half the memory and can't load the older firmware version. So we have switched to the D-Link 54G product and are happy with the results. We see that Brian Livingston (Windows Secrets) and Tom's Hardware agree that this router is one to avoid. - Russ , posted 07/09/06 |
